Overview

Software as a service (SaaS) is the model where third-party providers develop software and applications, and then offer them to businesses on a pay-as-you-go basis via the cloud. Some examples are G Suite, Box, and Zoom.

SaaS applications can hold vast amounts of corporate, personal, and other types of sensitive data, and oftentimes vendors lack the expertise or resources to develop all the requisite security policies with their users. Developing and enforcing these different security policies consistently across applications and users can be difficult.

SaaS Security Posture Management (SSPM) is a security control that provides automated continuous monitoring of SaaS applications to minimize risky configurations, prevent configuration drift, and help security and IT teams ensure compliance.
